Lemon Guarana Gel
NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS
Improves physical performance while helping to improve concentration and alertness
The ATLET Lemon Guarana energy gel provides immediate energy thanks to its formulation, so it should be used when you feel a sudden drop in energy to restore your energy during the race while helping to improve your alertness and concentration.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A GUARANA-BASED GEL COMPARED WITH A CLASSIC GEL?
Guarana or caffeine?
Guarana is a plant that contains caffeine.
The effects of caffeine on sports performance are now well documented.
It is a neurostimulant that promotes dopamine secretion and thereby improves energy, endurance, and concentration levels.
Human studies using a variety of exercise protocols have shown improved performance after caffeine consumption. Caffeine affects individuals very differently; this is why we recommend incorporating it into your training as often as possible to observe your own sensitivity and response.
SO WHY DIDN’T WE SIMPLY USE CAFFEINE IN OUR GEL?
First, because the stimulating effects of caffeine are much shorter-lived than those of guarana.
With guarana, the sensation of energy is therefore more diffuse and gradual, exactly what endurance athletes seek in order to remain as stable as possible throughout the effort.
In addition, caffeine causes side effects in some people (palpitations, arrhythmia, anxiety, or nervousness), which can be counterproductive to optimal sports performance.
However, studies on guarana have shown that at rest it appears to have positive effects on cognitive tasks without the negative effects associated with caffeine consumption. This is another important reason to favor guarana over caffeine.
BUT GUARANA IS ALSO INTERESTING IN ITS OWN RIGHT…
Clinical studies have shown that consuming guarana led to significant improvements in the performance of cognitive tests.
Effects can also be seen on alertness, concentration, and attention.
Given the caffeine content (9 to 11%) consumed in this study, the authors suggest that the effects cannot be attributed solely to its caffeine content.
Guarana does indeed improve alertness and concentration, which can be very important in endurance sports, where the intensity and duration of the effort tend to reduce mental clarity.
Guarana also has antioxidant properties
We know that regular and more or less intense physical activity leads to increased production of free radicals involved in the oxidative stress process.
To counteract this, it is advisable to consume more antioxidants than the general population.
This is why our Lemon gel contains acerola powder, as do all other ATLET products.
Here, the acerola’s effects are enhanced by the antioxidant action of guarana.
▶ Guarana accelerates recovery
Organic guarana prevents cramps and muscle soreness by promoting the elimination of lactic acid.
This allows for less painful recovery.
Consuming guarana at the beginning of the day promotes deeper, more restorative sleep, making it ideal when the training load is greater.
Guarana is a natural fat burner
Its consumption is often associated with weight loss, usually in combination with green tea. It is not a conventional fat burner. The plant contains not only caffeine but also numerous tannins (antioxidants) and catechins. These active compounds may help reduce appetite and limit cravings. By reducing your food intake, this may contribute to reducing your body’s overall calorie intake.
