NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS

Improves physical performance while helping to improve concentration and alertness

The ATLET Lemon Guarana energy gel provides immediate energy through its formulation, so it should be used when you experience an energy slump to restore your energy during the race while helping to improve your alertness and concentration.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A GUARANA-BASED GEL COMPARED WITH A CLASSIC GEL?

Guarana or caffeine?

Guarana is a plant that contains caffeine.
The effects of caffeine on athletic performance are now well documented.
It is a neurostimulant that promotes dopamine secretion, thereby improving energy, endurance, and concentration levels.

Human studies using a variety of exercise protocols have shown improved performance after caffeine consumption. Caffeine has very different effects from one individual to another; this is why we recommend incorporating it into your training as often as possible to observe your own sensitivity and responsiveness.

BUT THEN WHY DIDN’T WE SIMPLY USE CAFFEINE IN OUR GEL?

Firstly, because caffeine’s stimulating effects last much less time than those of guarana.
With guarana, the sensation of energy is therefore more diffuse and gradual—exactly what endurance athletes seek to remain as stable as possible throughout the effort.

Caffeine can also cause side effects in some people (palpitations, arrhythmia, anxiety, or even nervousness) that can be counterproductive to optimal athletic performance.

However, studies on guarana have shown that at rest it appears to have positive effects on cognitive tasks but without the negative effects associated with caffeine intake. This makes it another important reason to favor guarana over caffeine.

BUT GUARANA IS ALSO INTERESTING IN ITS OWN RIGHT…

Clinical studies have shown that taking guarana led to significant improvements in the performance of cognitive tests.
Effects are also visible in alertness, concentration, and attention.
Given the caffeine content (9 to 11%) ingested as part of this study, the authors suggest that the effects cannot be attributed solely to its caffeine content.

Guarana does indeed improve alertness and concentration, which can be very important in endurance sports where the intensity and duration of the effort tend to reduce mental clarity.

Guarana also has antioxidant properties

We know that regular and moderately to highly intense physical activity leads to increased production of free radicals involved in the oxidative stress process.
To counteract this, you should consume more antioxidants than the average person.
This is why our Lemon gel contains acerola powder, as do all other ATLET products.

Here, acerola is enhanced by guarana's antioxidant effect.

Guarana speeds up recovery

Organic guarana prevents cramps and muscle soreness by promoting the elimination of lactic acid.
This allows for less painful recovery.

Consuming guarana at the beginning of the day promotes deeper, more restorative sleep, making it ideal when training loads are higher.

Guarana is a natural fat burner

Its consumption is often associated with weight loss, usually in combination with green tea. It is not a classic fat burner. The plant contains not only caffeine but also many tannins (antioxidants) and catechins. These active compounds may help reduce appetite and curb cravings. By reducing your food intake, this may contribute to reducing your body's overall calorie intake.
