HIGH5:"Our latest innovative products are the result of our collaboration with BORA - hansgrohe"

Home  HIGH5 has been a partner of the BORA - hansgrohe team since 2017.
BORA - hansgrohe is one of the world's leading professional cycling teams, and with ambitious goals, its sports nutrition strategy is extremely important.
HIGH5 therefore developed this new range to ensure that the products are fit for purpose and help the team achieve its goals.
Here is the result of their joint work, presented by HIGH5

When you consume an energy drink or gel, it delivers that energy to your muscles very quickly, but it also runs out very quickly.

High5 High Glycemic Sports Nutrition Graph

This has a few drawbacks:
  • A sharp rise and sharp drop in blood sugar levels (sugar crash)
  • Fast-absorbing carbohydrates and sugars can be difficult for some athletes to digest
  • Long training sessions or endurance events are better suited to a consistent, sustained energy source
  • Encourages the body to use carbohydrates as an energy source
HIGH5 therefore wondered whether this was still the best strategy for achieving endurance performance. They began looking for a product that would provide a sustainable, long-lasting energy supply.

High5 Low Glycemic Foods Graph

This encourages your body to use fat, which is particularly beneficial:
  • During extended training periods (improved fat metabolism, increased fat burning)
  • Early in races (save and store your energy)

A slower absorption rate is easier on the stomach. Although this idea was developed with elite athletes, it also applies to everyday athletes.

"Low GI" (Low Glycemic Index) is a highly searched term on Google. There are many perceived health benefits.

High5 Slow Release - Low GI Graph

High5 tested the concept with customers at events.
  • Blood sugar spikes and drops occur regularly.
  • Very relevant for athletes with diabetes who need to control their blood sugar levels.
By using a different carbohydrate, it is possible to provide more stable and sustained energy, and therefore longer-lasting energy during exercise.

High5 Time after Consumption Graph

  •  Isomaltulose is made up of glucose and fructose like sucrose, but with a different chemical structure.
  • It takes longer to break down by enzymes: Isomaltulose is 4 to 5 times slower to digest than sucrose.
  • It tastes the same as sugar, but it is half as sweet.
  • Isomaltulose has a low GI of 32.

Key benefits
  • More sustained energy during exercise
  • Lower and controlled insulin release
  • Easy digestion thanks to slower intestinal absorption
  • Higher levels of fat burning
  • Better dental hygiene

New electrolyte complex
This new range has also been enhanced with ocean minerals. It is the most advanced electrolyte complex, providing a revitalizing boost of magnesium and more than 70 minerals and trace elements to help you balance your electrolytes during exercise. Nothing could be more natural than sourcing minerals from seawater.
