“Faut pas rêver” Episode – Alps Special – Interview with Alexandre

A month ago, our friend and partner ALEXANDRE JOUS stole the show on the program "Faut pas rêver en Pays de Savoie."

We are taking this opportunity to introduce you to the athlete behind the artist.

Here is the interview he gave us...

Hi Alexandre, many people know you as an announcer at races, a runner, and, for the past few days, as a musician following the program "Faut pas rêver en Pays de Savoie." Can you tell us more?
Hi JC and the whole Nutribay family!
I am Alexandre Jous, a professional musician since the age of 17 (I am 37).
I mainly live in Lyon, but I can often be seen in Metz and Haute-Savoie.
I play the French horn in an orchestra and am an international soloist on the alphorn (winner of several international first prizes).
I have also been an event announcer in running and cycling since 2016, when I got my start by chance at the "la légende du Graoully" trail race.
From a very young age, I took part in providing musical entertainment for the legendary "20 Kilometers of Maroilles" race, which sparked my passion for running.
Tell us about your schedule!
My schedule is very flexible, and I think that in 20 years there have never been two identical weeks, lol.
In the pre-COVID period, Monday was often my day off, spent tidying up my equipment...
For the rest of the week, it is at least three hours of music a day: rehearsals, composing, studio recording, teaching, and administrative work.
I manage my contracts and press inquiries, and I book music groups for various events.
I also spend time watching race results and summaries at both national and international levels, as well as races in the Grand Est and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, because those are the two regions where I work the most.
The weekend is reserved for event performances, whether sporting or musical.
On the sporting side, I try to run at least 50 km and climb 1,000 meters per week.
Living in Lyon, I do most of my traveling by bicycle (between 50 and 150 kilometers per week).
I take part in several competitions throughout the year, over distances ranging from 10 to 80 kilometers.
Since March 2020, everything has been different because I have been affected by cancellations, and there is no visibility on when sporting events will resume. On the music side, I have taken part in YouTube concerts with a brass ensemble, as well as live concerts with audiences kept at a distance in the mountains...

With such a schedule and travel to all four corners of the world, do you manage to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
It has been more than ten years since I realized the importance of nutrition for our productivity.
Before concerts, it was very often charcuterie platters or regional specialties, followed by petits fours and a boozy third half, lol.
In the recording studio, thermoses of coffee and pizzas, whereas between two classes it was sandwiches or packets of cookies in the car.
From now on, I am increasingly trying to manage a healthier diet with plenty of homemade food whenever possible.
Before every time I go on stage, I eat a Baouw bar, or recently, a purée.
As for alcohol, I never consume any before performing or speaking into a microphone.

For sports and/or everyday life, which products are your favorites?
Without hesitation, the Baouw range!
The Cacao bar for breakfast with a good coffee to start the day well, then depending on the time of a concert, for example, I switch between the Quinoa Beetroot and Blackcurrant bars.
In my view, the pear and raspberry purées are perfect between a training session and a rehearsal!
Baouw provides progressive energy through healthy foods and does not cause me any intestinal problems.

Even though the events industry lacks visibility, what do you have coming up?
My first short film, "Every Mountain Deserves Its Music in Manigod (74)," is being edited and will be released in a few weeks.
Made after the first lockdown, this film recounts the southern traverse of the Aravis (the Manigod mountains in Haute-Savoie): 22 km, 3,349 m of elevation gain, and music on 6 summits!
The official release is planned for the end of May, and screenings with concerts may be held for clubs...
A few concerts are of course planned, while many others have once again been canceled due to COVID, but the summer is looking good!
As for speaking engagements, with the Foxtrail and Graoully canceled, I should be taking the microphone at the Nivolet Revard (Ugo Ferrari's race) on May 2, and I hope to take part in the Maxirace at the end of May!
Thank you, Alex, and we wish you a great season. Keep making us dream through your music and behind your microphone!
