It is a blue pigment-protein found in spirulina, used in particular as a natural coloring and studied for its antioxidant activity. Alga Sports presents it as the key ingredient in its shot, which it says is the first recovery drink made with pure phycocyanin. These effects are not covered by an authorized health claim in the EU.
