The Maurten Bicarb System is similar to the Maurten Gel 100 and Drink Mix. Instead of carbohydrates, it uses Hydrogel Technology to encapsulate the bicarbonate and ensure its passage through the stomach into the intestine, where it is absorbed.

Lactic acid is not necessarily an adversary: it is a source of energy produced by the body during highly physically demanding activities. The increase in acidity during these intense efforts causes muscle overload, leading to exhaustion.

Absorbing a large amount of sodium bicarbonate helps prevent the negative effects of this high acidity. However, this method has one major drawback: it can cause gastrointestinal problems for athletes and eliminate any performance benefit.

Thanks to the Bicarb System, this is no longer a problem – taking bicarbonate has never been so simple and effective.

Personalized solution 

The Maurten Bicarb System offers different serving sizes: 12, 15, 19, 22 and 25. The bicarbonate concentration varies depending on the athletes’ weight and experience. As a general rule, the greater their weight, the larger the serving size. However, a larger amount does not necessarily mean better performance, as the body needs to get used to taking bicarbonate.

Element A – Mixing bowl

The bowl of the Maurten Bicarb System is designed to mix and measure the product precisely and optimally. Clear instructions are printed on the sides, and its size allows it to be held in one hand. Its screw-on lid makes it easy to transport and store.

Element B – Hydrogel

A true revolution. Our hydrogel is the result of many years of extensive research. Its formula is specially designed to encapsulate and protect sodium bicarbonate. It enables easy absorption without having to chew the product. Each serving contains 40 g of carbohydrates to help athletes prepare before a training session or race.

Element C – Bicarbonate

A concentrate of efficacy. The sachet contains tiny, revolutionary bicarbonate tablets. Mixed with the hydrogel, they pass through the stomach because of their small diameter before reaching the intestine, where they are absorbed.

Preparation plays an essential role. Adequate bicarbonate intake requires careful planning. The ideal time to take a dose of the Bicarb System is between one and two hours after a meal, such as breakfast. This also applies between one and a half and two hours before a demanding training session or race.
