Santa Madre Lactate 60 Gel OFF CAF

Santa Madre LACTATE 60 – Caffeine-free lactate energy gel

An innovative approach to energy for endurance sports

The caffeine-free Santa Madre LACTATE 60 is a liquid energy gel developed for athletes engaged in prolonged or high-intensity efforts. Its formula combines 40 g of carbohydrates in a 1:1 ratio with 60 mmol of lactate, adding an additional metabolic source to the energy strategy.

The purpose of LACTATE 60 is not to replace carbohydrates. Instead, it aims to complement carbohydrate intake with lactate.

According to Santa Madre, glucose and fructose use their own absorption pathways, while lactate takes an independent pathway through MCT transporters. Once absorbed, it can be used as an energy source and also acts as a metabolic signal when exercise intensity increases.

This version is caffeine-free, making it easier to use when you want to manage your stimulant intake separately or simply follow a caffeine-free nutrition strategy.

40 g of carbohydrates per gel with a 1:1 ratio

Each LACTATE 60 provides 40 g of carbohydrates in a 1:1 carbohydrate ratio.

This dosage makes it easy to create your fueling plan:

• 1 gel = 40 g of carbohydrates
• 2 gels = 80 g of carbohydrates
• 3 gels = 120 g of carbohydrates

This clearly defined quantity simplifies calculation of hourly intake during endurance training and competitions.

60 mmol of lactate to complement carbohydrates

The main distinguishing feature of Santa Madre LACTATE 60 is the inclusion of 60 millimoles of lactate per gel.

According to the formulation presented by Santa Madre, lactate is absorbed through a pathway independent of those used by glucose and fructose, involving MCT transporters.

The product was therefore designed to add an additional metabolic source to an energy strategy already based on carbohydrates.

Santa Madre also indicates that, beyond its use as an energy source, lactate acts as a signal linked to increased exercise intensity and the body's response mechanisms to high-intensity exercise.

250 mg of sodium per gel

According to the nutritional information provided by Santa Madre, 1 LACTATE 60 provides 250 mg of sodium.

This makes it possible to combine in a single serving:

Total sodium intake should naturally be incorporated into your overall hydration strategy and adapted to your sweat rate, weather conditions, and the other products consumed.

Caffeine-free version

This product specifically corresponds to the caffeine-free LACTATE 60.

It is particularly beneficial for athletes who:

• do not wish to consume caffeine;
• are sensitive to stimulants;
• train at the end of the day;
• wish to control their caffeine dosage separately;
• alternate caffeinated and caffeine-free products during a long competition.

This notably makes it possible to use several LACTATE 60 gels in an endurance strategy without automatically increasing caffeine intake with each gel.

A fully liquid texture

LACTATE 60 has a fully liquid texture, designed to make consumption easier as intensity increases.

This format is particularly suitable when chewing a bar becomes less practical, for example during a fast race, a bike climb, or a demanding trail section.

The product was developed for:

• running;
• marathon;
• trail running and ultratrail running;
• cycling;
• triathlon;
• extended training sessions;
• high-intensity competitions.

A stated activation time of 7 to 10 minutes

Santa Madre states that LACTATE 60 has an activation time of 7 to 10 minutes.

This characteristic notably explains the brand's recommendation to consume a gel after warming up during high-intensity efforts.

Usage advice for caffeine-free LACTATE 60

High-intensity effort lasting less than 3 hours

Take 1 gel immediately after warming up.

When the effort lasts more than one hour, Santa Madre then recommends taking 1 gel every 40 minutes.

Long-duration effort lasting more than 3 hours

For efforts lasting more than 3 hours, Santa Madre distinguishes three levels:

Important: Level 3 is not suitable for everyone and is indicated by Santa Madre as reserved for professionals.

The strategy should be adapted to your digestive tolerance, training level, and the other energy products consumed.
