How to consume our energy fruit purées?

Article published on the website of our partner BAOUW

Our new compotes were designed to provide you with readily available energy. They are also very easy to transport, forming the basis of the on-the-go food needed whenever you are traveling. Very easy to store. Available at any time in any situation: sports, everyday small appetites…

All the usage advice from Benoît Nave, our nutritionist (European diploma in Micronutrition, Food, Prevention and Health).

When should you eat our energy compotes* (*purées with no added sugar)?

  • Raspberry-Strawberry-Basil Purée
Steady energy (with no blood sugar spike and therefore no crash afterward), quickly absorbed by the body, even though the glycemic indexes remain very moderate.
“Because we process the fruit into purées, we have increased the glycemic index slightly compared with the fruit itself, so it is beneficial for sports, but it remains low (below 50),” explains the Baouw nutritionist.

  • Pear-Apple-Mint Purée
Steady energy (with no blood sugar spike and therefore no crash afterward), quickly absorbed by the body, even though the glycemic indexes remain moderate.
“Because we process the fruit into purées, we have increased the glycemic index slightly compared with the fruit itself, so it is beneficial for sports, but it remains moderate and will not cause reactive hypoglycemia,” explains the Baouw nutritionist.

  • Sweet Potato Purée
Our most energy-dense purée (equivalent to a Baouw bar in carbohydrates), ideal when a “sweet” taste* is not desired or is no longer tolerated. Very rich in antioxidants thanks to sweet potato, orange, carrot, and olive oil.

- > Travel / Healthy snack (a delicious and light snack)
Given its composition, it can be taken at any time of day to complement a snack. A truly low glycemic load.
Usage tips: on its own or with a piece of fruit, or to finish a meal on the go.
Raspberry-Strawberry-Basil Purée, your ally for a toned figure!

When monitoring your weight or figure, it can be the guilt-free treat you enjoy. In this specific case, choose Raspberry. (The Baouw nutritionist is not at all in favor of the idea of a “diet.” But if you’re watching what you eat, this Raspberry-Strawberry-Basil purée really is your slimming ally! So if you want to “indulge” without feeling guilty, this is the one to choose.)
This purée is the champion of blood sugar management.

during training, during physical exertion

“When exertion exceeds 2 hours, it’s good to take in energy if you train regularly. You need to be careful not to draw too heavily on your reserves. To protect your muscular and immune systems and keep going in the rest of your life—professional, personal, and so on,” explains Benoît Nave.
Pear-Apple-Mint, Raspberry-Strawberry-Basil, and, for the purée with Guérande salt, Sweet Potato-Carrot-Timut Pepper: our three energy compotes (with no added sugar) for this brand-new range launched last June. The recipes were created by our chef Yoann Conte, a two-Michelin-starred chef. His Maison Bleue is located on the shores of Lake Annecy (on the right in this photo).
