4ULTRA in brief

Why savory purées?
Pierre Cursan spent more than ten years in research and development for dietary supplements. His observation as a runner: after hours on the go, sweet flavors become tiresome and you end up eating less. That led to the idea of a savory range to alternate with gels and sweet drinks.
“Create a savory, easy-to-digest, portable, and healthy range for ultra-endurance.” Pierre Cursan, founder of 4ULTRA
Local organic ingredients, cooked by the brand
The recipes are organic, vegan, gluten-free, and contain no additives, flavorings, or preservatives. The brand sources ingredients as close as possible to its workshop: sweet potatoes from Gers, Espelette pepper, unrefined salt from Salies-de-Béarn, and French turmeric. The purées are cooked and packaged by the 4ULTRA team.
Which 4ULTRA product should you choose?
- Savory purées (85 g): Pumpkin & Carrot, Sweet Potato & Butternut Squash, Beetroot, Red Lentils, Potato & Carrot, Chickpea Hummus.
- Sweet purées (75 g): Apple & Chestnut, Apple & Apricot, Almond & Lemon.
- Discovery Pack (6 x 85 g) to sample the savory recipes, and Recovery Mix cocoa (500 g) for after exercise.
How can you work them into your strategy?
A vegetable purée provides few carbohydrates: for example, the brand lists 41 kcal and 6.3 g of carbohydrates for its Pumpkin & Carrot recipe. So it doesn’t replace your gels or sports drink; it complements them with a savory, easy-to-swallow option to break up the sweetness at aid stations.

Frequently asked questions about 4ULTRA
Yes. All recipes are made with ingredients from organic farming, and the brand states that they exceed the regulatory minimum of 95% organic ingredients. They are also vegan and gluten-free.
The two complement each other. A gel provides plenty of carbohydrates in a small volume. A vegetable purée provides fewer, but lets you vary the flavors when you get tired of sweet foods. Alternate between them according to your fueling plan.
