Customer story: a Marathon-Off and a record for my birthday
Hello JC,
Here is a short report on my Marathon-Off in Genval, made by Coaching Zone. A personal best (2:45:50) for the challenge I had set myself.
Running a marathon on my birthday (February 6), but not just completing the full 42.195 km distance: I also wanted to beat my personal best of 2:51:36, set before the COVID-19 crisis on December 1, 2019, in Valencia (Spain).
As you know from our discussions while preparing my nutrition protocols as effectively as possible (IM, Marathon, Half Marathon, etc.), I have a fairly sensitive stomach.
But thanks to the advice on quality products and the protocol to follow, both my last IM and this Marathon-Off went smoothly, without any digestive problems.
During this Marathon-Off, my coach advised me to start the race at 3:59/km for the first 30 km. I had the luxury of being accompanied by a few "Zonards" as pacers, so I only had to focus on my running technique without constantly checking my watch. Kilometer after kilometer.
Then came the most intense moment of the race. After completing 30 km in 1:57, the coach following me by bike asked how I felt. I replied that I felt as I had at the 10th kilometer; I was confident and had been well prepared. He told me, "OK, you can shift up a gear and accelerate."
When I reached kilometer 35, I checked my watch and was surprised to see... a pace of 3:34/km.
I did not even dare tell the coach. Was I overconfident? I do not really know, but what I do know is that I had received suitable coaching and that my efforts and perseverance during training had to make the difference in the final time.
Physically, I was in good shape, and with this nutrition protocol I had enough energy to successfully complete this full-distance personal best in 2:45.
I would like to thank my coach Christopher Christiaens from Coaching Zone for the physical preparation, as well as NUTRI-BAY.COM for the nutritional guidance and service.
